The training and qualifications that you have acquired at college or university are a great start to a career in IT. But it’s likely you are finding it difficult to get a job without real work experience – and the only way to get that experience is to get a job.
Your qualifications and passion for IT could make you an ideal candidate for Cerco. Take the test to see if Cerco could give you the training and real work experience you need to launch a career in IT.
Step 1 – Quiz
Demonstrate your knowledge and technical ability. This test helps us assess if you have the potential to be a successful IT Engineer.
You must achieve a pass rate of 60% to move on to the next step. You can only take the test once.
Step 2 – Interview
Cerco employees are known for their customer friendly attitude and positive approach. All candidates that pass the technical test will be invited to a virtual interview over Skype or Facetime. This is your opportunity to show your enthusiasm for the role and ask any questions that you may have.
You will be contacted about an interview if you pass the test. Please present yourself as if you are going for a job interview.
Step 3 – Training Course
Candidates that pass the technical test and do well at interview will be invited to take part on the training course.
The course covers theory and practical training in computer hardware, operating systems, networks, communications and printers. You will also cover useful topics to support your employability including health and safety, customer care, CV/letter writing and interview techniques.
Successful completion of the course will give you the Cerco Certificate in Systems and Networking (CCSN) which is recognised by Cerco’s employer partners.
Step 4 – Cerco Employee
Candidates that successfully pass the course may be suitable to be offered temporary or permanent IT roles.
Please note that Cerco does not guarantee work for candidates that pass the training course, likewise you are not committed to working for Cerco after completion of the Course
If you are successful at steps 1-3 of this process, Cerco will need to carry out a standard check before offering any you employment. This is referred to as a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check (BPSS). In brief the BPSS process looks at the following criteria.
- Proof of residency – last five years
- Proof of employment – last five years
- DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service previously known as CRB) – we use DBS coupled with a partnership arrangement with a reliable provider to clear to Enhanced in as little as 10 days
- Financial sanctions check – (using HMRC)
- Credit check (due to certain customer demands in the retail and banking environments). Includes checking for:
- CCJ/delinquent/default debts
- voluntary arrangement
- academic records
- employment references
